Individual Consultation
Clinical work can become difficult. The therapeutic relationship can grow increasingly complicated, or a case may activate the therapist’s own history. Individual consultation offers support in working through these complex clinical challenges.
The therapist’s own experience is part of the clinical work.
My approach to consultation is psychodynamic and attachment-based. I help therapists understand their attachment responses and countertransference, strengthen case conceptualization, and identify ways to move forward in treatment. The work draws on attachment and object relations theory, while attending to the therapist’s use of self as part of the clinical work.
Individual consultation is ongoing and meets monthly. The continuity of the work allows us to follow cases over time, return to clinical questions as treatment develops, and understand patterns that may be more difficult to see in a single consultation.
Sessions follow the needs of your clinical work. We may focus on case conceptualization through a psychodynamic and attachment-based lens, the dynamics of the therapeutic relationship, treatment impasses, countertransference, or questions about how to move forward. Some clinicians bring one long-term case; others use consultation to think about their practice more broadly.
Consultation starts with a conversation about your practice, your cases, and your goals.
